Rose G. Duval

Rose G. Duval, 95 ½, Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January 19, in Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo, ND.

Rose Georgina Pronovost was born in Fargo on June 20, 1919 to Tancrede and Rose Sauvageau Pronovost. She grew up in the Wild Rice, ND area before marrying Bernard Duval on January 7, 1942. Together they made their home in Fargo, ND, and later moved to Moorhead, MN in 1952.

Rose worked at St. Ansgar Hospital in Moorhead in the housekeeping department for over 25 years until her retirement in 1986. Over the years, Rose and Bernard were very active members of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where they were also charter members. She was active in Christian Mothers and the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She later enjoyed spending time babysitting her grandchildren, being outside in her garden and working with flowers.

She is survived by her children, Ron Arlene Duval, Moorhead, MN, Karen Pete Stern, Moorhead, MN, Linda Howard Carver, Fargo, ND, Diana Jon Kowalski, Moorhead, MN; 16 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; children, Patricia Bunn and Keary Duval; great-granddaughter, Amanda Erickson; parents, Tancrede and Rose; step-father, Anthony Suran; sister, Jeanette Sauvageau; and brothers, Edward and Baptist Pronovost.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 23, from 5-7 p.m with a prayer service at 7 p.m, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Moorhead, MN. The funeral will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead, MN.
