Ross C. Omberg, age 71, of Hawley, Minnesota, died Monday, April 19, 2010, in his home. Ross was born May 10, 1938, at West Cormorant Lake, Minnesota, to Raymond and Clara Ness Omberg. He grew up and attended school in Hawley and later attended school in Audubon, MN, graduating in 1957 from Audubon High School. Following high school he attended Hanson Technical School in Fargo for one year. For a short time, he worked as a mechanic in Hopkins, MN. Ross married Karen Spande on March 15, 1959 in Glencoe, Minnesota. In 1968, they built a home south of Hawley, where they have since resided. Ross worked for Westgo Manufacturing in West Fargo for several years before starting his own business in 1977, Ross-Ko Construction, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. Ross enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, snowmobiling and giving advice. He also enjoyed relaxing and reading at his hunting shack built south of Hawley. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen Omberg of Hawley, MN; four sons, Dean Diane Omberg of Hawley, MN, Tim Omberg of Hawley, MN, Lance Shelley Osman Omberg of Moorhead, MN, and Shannon Bobbie Omberg of Nevis, MN; one sister, Jeanette Lee Weets of Hawley, MN; twelve grandchildren and one brother-in-law, Eugene Theresa Spande of Eden Prairie, MN.He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Clara Omberg.
