Roy L. Schurdevin

Roy Leo Schurdevin, 85, Fargo, ND, died January 19, 2019, at Villa Maria in Fargo.

Roy was born April 17, 1933, in Gary, MN, to Leo and Louise (Burkhart) Schurdevin. He graduated from Twin Valley High School in 1950 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951.  Roy proudly served his country during the Korean War and after returning home he attended Interstate Business College where he earned a certificate in accounting.  His first job was at Standard Oil in Minneapolis, but he moved back to Moorhead in about 1960 and obtained a job at the Post Office in Moorhead in 1961.  He worked as a mail carrier first, and then later as a clerk, until his retirement in 1989.

Roy was united in marriage to Donna Ellis in 1956 and they had two children, Lynette and Lee.  Donna passed away in 1988. After his retirement from the Post Office in 1989, Roy married Betty Siebels and they made their home in Fargo.

Roy is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Lynette Schurdevin, Rio Rancho, NM and Lee Schurdevin, Thornton, CO; his sister, Ramona (Stanley) Habedank, Twin Valley, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Donna.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 23, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., with visitation for one hour before the service, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery on Monday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m.
