Roy Marsh

Roy Marsh, 84 of West Fargo, ND, died Saturday, May 23, 2015, in Villa Maria, Fargo, ND, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Roy was born December 10, 1930, in Fargo, ND, to Sherald and Grace Selstrom Kennard, where he grew up and attended school. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army before he returned to the area. On December 4, 1948, Roy married Ruth Eliason in Detroit Lakes, MN. Together they made their home in Moorhead. Roy owned and operated Roy’s Sign Service and later Viking Body Shop. He retired at the age of 52 and they lived on Star Lake near Dent, MN, where he enjoyed spending time outdoors, being on the lake and fishing. In retirement, Roy stayed busy with airbrush painting and continued sign painting in his spare time. He and Ruth also enjoyed many years traveling south with their motor home, often wintering in Texas. They later moved from Star Lake to Perham, MN, for 20 years before moving to West Fargo, where he most recently resided.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruth; children, Mikell of Vashon Island, WA, Stacy Jan of Moorhead, Kennard Christy of Spokane, WA, Kim Dave Klose of Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sherrie Kennard, Ann Trullinger, James Marsh, Patty Goetz and Bill Goetz.
He was preceded in death by granddaughter, Jody Collins; and siblings, Earl Kennard, Clarence Marsh, and Marvin Marsh.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Villa Maria and Hospice of the Red River Valley for their exceptional care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Salvation Army.

Memorial service will be on Saturday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m., with gathering from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
