Roy Paul Koenig

Roy Paul Koenig, 78, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at his home in Moorhead, MN.

Paul, to everyone that knew him, was born on July 20, 1943, in Urbana, IL. His family moved to Fargo, ND, where he grew up. He attended Central High School and graduated from NDSU with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. He met his wife, Cathi Eisenhauer, at NDSU, and they married in 1965. They moved to Freeport, IL, where he worked for Microswitch Corporation. Their daughter, Wendy, was born in 1966. In 1973, they moved back to Fargo to be closer to family. In 1974, their daughter, Christy, was born and he started his own business, The Golf and Ski Shack which he operated for 23 years. He then moved on to manage Town and Country Golf Course, served as a Cass County commissioner, and drove a semi-truck.

Paul loved to golf and played for as long as he was able. He enjoyed playing poker, crossword puzzles, reading, and skiing with his daughters when they were young. He loved to compete. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling with his wife, Cathi, to Oregon, Arizona, and Lake Superior. He loved dogs and was rarely without one in his life.

Paul will be remembered and missed by his life-long partner, Cathi; daughters, Wendy (Scott) Miller, and Christy (Jeff) Ladner; grandchildren, Kelly, Ryan (Briana), Olivia, and Karah; great-grandchildren, Juliet and Evelyn; and siblings, Richard (Lynn) Koenig, Patricia (Paul) Rosbury. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 13, 2022, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, following the service.
