Ruben G. "Skip" Amundson, age 58, of Moorhead, MN, formally of St. Paul, MN, died Saturday, January 24, 2009, in the Golden Living Center, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and with his family by his side.Ruben George Amundson was born on August 17, 1950 in Fargo, ND to George and Vivian Ryden Amundson. He grew up and attended school in Waubun, MN, graduation in 1968. In February, 1969 he enlisted in The United States Army, serving in Vietnam from 1970 – 1971. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked as a welder and truck driver. On July 3, 1971 he married Sandra Skersick in Waubun, MN. Together they had one daughter, Dacell. They later were divorced but remained friends. Ruben moved to the Golden Living Center in Moorhead in March, 2008 where he thoroughly enjoyed the staff and residents. He also enjoyed being outside and writing in his notebooks and coloring with his markers. Ruben touched the lives of many people that cared for him. He had a smile that could light up a room and had a knack for making others laugh. He will be dearly missed by those who knew him.He is survived by his daughter, Dacell Robert Nygaard of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren, Brendan, Kelsey, Kade, Kole; one brother, Luther Kris Maser Amundson of Edina, MN; and two nephews Christopher and Michael. Memorials are preferred to the Disabled American Veterans, VARO Suite 206, 2101 Elm Street, Fargo, ND 58102.He was preceded in death by his parents.
