Rudolph Elsmer Olson "Rudy"Rudolph Olson, 91, Moorhead, MN, died on February 23, 2007, in the Golden Living Center on Ottertail Lake, MN.Rudy was born on December 1st 1915, to Swan and Gerda Sundquist Olson at Strandquist, MN, where he grew up and attended school. When he was 18 years old he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was stationed at Ely, MN, for one year. He married Gertrude Smidt on September 18, 1937. During WWII he worked on a defense project at Mead, Nebraska in 1942. He spent nine months up in Northern Canada working on the pipeline. In 1944 he started his own building construction company at Stephen, MN, building homes there until 1969 when he sold out and moved to Moorhead, MN, where he worked for various building construction companies until his retirement in 1980. Rudolph was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed that hobby for many years, contacting and talking to people all over the world. Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 69 years, Gertrude; two daughters, Janice Lowell Barr of Rapid City, SD, and Arleen Floyd Raffanti of New Lenox, IL; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, three brothers and one sister.
