Ruth A. Johnson

Ruth A. Johnson 98, Lake Park, MN, died Friday, February 22, 2008, in Hawley, MN, at the Senior Living Center.Ruth Johnson was born November 28, 1909 at Abby Lake , rural Detroit Lakes, to Aaron and Ragnilid "Rose"Prestegard Ellickson. She graduated from Lake Park High school and Moorhead Teachers College and taught school for a few years. Ruth married Leonard Johnson September 14, 1938. Following the untimely death of her husband, Leonard, in 1951, she worked as a Lake Park Post Office clerk until retiring in 1974. She had resided at the Hawley Senior Living Center since 2005. Ruth enjoyed doing hardanger, quilting, and gardening.Ruth is survived by one daughter, Lynn Johnson, Mechanicsville, MD; and two sons, Sheldon Caroline, Lake Park, and Robert Marsha, Ada; Seven grandchildren, Leonard Georgia Johnson, Moorhead, MN; David Lemae Johnson, Moorhead, MN; Jeff Lori Johnson, Lake Park, MN; Mark fiancee Rachel Stark Lake Park, MN; Sara Dan Annis, Phoenix, Arizona; Aaron Johnson, Karlstad, MN; Kent Johnson, Fargo, ND. Three great-grandsons Tyler, Koby, and Micah Johnson.Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, daughter NancyApril 2005, her parents, three brothers Irvin, Sidney, Oakley, and one sister Dulcie Torgerson.Memorials may be given to Lake Park Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
