Ruth Asleson

Ruth E. Asleson, 61, of Moorhead, died Monday, January 6, 2020, at Farmstead Care in Moorhead, MN. Ruth was born in Moorhead on May 28, 1958, to Roland and Ingeborg (Raun) Asleson, coincidentally on their tenth wedding anniversary.   She was baptized in faith on July 6, 1958.  She was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church on October 28, 1973.  She grew up in Moorhead, where she graduated from high school in 1976. The day after graduation, she moved to Lake Tahoe to work at the Ponderosa Ranch.   On October 20, 1979, Ruth married Larry Flick at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead and they later divorced but remained friends. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling and lived in Philadelphia, Michigan, Georgia and San Francisco before settling in the Lake Tahoe area which she considered to be home. Ruth worked at various restaurants and bars but spent the majority of her time working at Pete ‘n Peters, where she made many friends.  Ruth had a wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile. She also had a way of making others around her feel good and loved spending time with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed.

Ruth is survived by her sisters, Randi (Stephen) Nunnink of Brainerd, MN, Mary Nelson of Moorhead, MN, Lois Paulson of Moorhead, MN, and Jane (Keith) Johnson of Moorhead, MN; nieces and nephews, Stephanie (Dustin) Dorn, Erika (Thomas) Nolan, Alisha and Tanner Nelson, Erik (Jami) Paulson, Kirsten (Kyle) McDermott, Joshua (Elizabeth Schulz, fiance) Suckow, Alison (Jared) Haecherl, Heidi (Justin) Cabales and Molly Johnson; eleven great-nieces and nephews; her special friend, Rich McDonald and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Ingeborg Asleson, both paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and a number of friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 17, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
