Ruth Janneck Carlson passed into eternity on September 9, 2009 after a battle with cancer. She was living at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. She formerly resided in Barnesville, Minnesota.Ruth Elizabeth Janneck was born to Harold and Amie Janneck in Barnesville, MN on April 24, 1929. She attended school in Barnesville and was gifted in her musical abilities. She sang with her family, and performed at funerals, weddings and school productions. She belonged to St. James United Church of Christ of Barnesville and was active in teaching Sunday and Bible School while her children were young. She was active in the Farmer's Union, 4H and an active DFL'er in Minnesota 7th District Politics.She married Gordon Iverson in 1950 and had family remaining in the Barnesville and FM areas. She later married Jerry Mulready and most recently was married to John Carlson. She lived in the Twin Cities for many years. She used her liberal political philosophy and worked as a legislative lobbyist and campaigned for women's rights and causes for the poor, homeless, minorities and the lack of accessible health care. Although she was disappointed that we did not achieve a "Hillary Presidency", she was astonished and happy that we did elect the first African-American president. She was a wonderful cook, had an incredible sense of humor, fun and freedom.She is survived by five children, Connie Iverson, Carol Iverson, both of Minneapolis, MN, Janet Iverson, Fargo, ND, Jean Jerry Best of Tovey, IL and Tom Beth Iverson of Moorhead, MN; brother, Harold Janneck II; grandchildren, Amie Becker Troy, VA, Nathaniel Becker, Washington D.C., Jerry Michael and Reba Best, both of Tovey, IL; great-grandson, Matthew, Fargo, ND; nieces, Laura and Elizabeth and nephews, Harold Janneck III and Timothy Janneck.Ruth is preceded in death by her mother and father, two infant siblings and her husbands.
