Ruth (Livdahl) Evert, 97, passed away peacefully at Eventide on Eighth on July 4, 2019. Ruth was born Oct. 9, 1921 to Arthur and Julia (Johnson) Livdahl. She lived at the farm in Hickson, North Dakota in her early years. On November 18, 1942, she married Kenneth Evert from the Comstock/Sabin area. Ruth and Ken were married at her Grandparent’s farm, the same farm where Ruth was born.
Ruth and Ken had two children, Charles and Susan. In 1953, Ken died from a massive coronary. Ruth continued to live with her parents and children at the Hickson farm until the children were done with high school. Ruth then moved to Fargo. She worked at Epko Film Service and the American Cancer Society in Fargo. In 1987, she moved back to the home farm. Ruth lived there until 2004 when she moved to University Manor in Fargo. Her last years were spent at the Fairmont in Moorhead and then Eventide on Eighth.
Ruth enjoyed going to sports activities of her children, working on crossword puzzles, quilting with the ladies from her church, and playing bingo. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Fargo, serving as president in 1976. She was a lifelong member of Hickson Lutheran Church, where she served as the choir director for many years.
Ruth is survived by her son Charles (Cheryl) Evert of Battle Lake, Mn. and her daughter Susan from Coon Rapids, Mn. She has two granddaughters Andrea (Mike) Koenig of Coon Rapids, Mn. and Alison (Chad) Christianson of Glenwood, Mn. Ruth has four great-grandchildren, Halle (Brady) Johnsrud, Ryan Christianson, Jonathan Koenig, and Jackson Koenig. She is also survived by her sister Alice Mathison of Fargo, North Dakota and numerous nieces and nephews. Her baby sister, Julia Louise died in 1926. Of her husband’s 13 brothers and sisters and their spouses, Ruth was the last survivor of that generation.
Her funeral will be at the Hickson Lutheran Church at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 12, 2019. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. She will be buried at the Lower Wild Rice and Red River Cemetery, north of Hickson.
