Ruth was born September 11, 1915, the seventh child of William and Katharine Krabbenhoft Mikkelsen, of Glyndon, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Sabin, MN. Ruth attended and graduated from Glyndon Consolidated School in 1932 and in 1935 enrolled at Moorhead State Teachers College. After graduation she taught at Muskoda, MN, for two years, then Baker, MN, for three years, where she supervised student teachers from Moorhead State College.During WWII she lived in New Orleans, LA, with sister, Leila, whose husband was overseas in the Army. Ruth worked at the Federal Reserve Bank while there. After the war she lived with an aunt in Minneapolis and worked at the Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance office. When her parents moved to Moorhead, she moved home and worked at Moorhead State University, retiring in 1980. Ruth was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Moorhead. She served on several boards, taught Sunday school and joined the LWML. After the death of her parents, she housed college students for several years when sister, Leila joined her from Texas. They moved into an apartment and later Eventide Linden Tree where Leila died in 2004.Ruth is survived by many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Erhardt, Herbert, Leonard, Elmer, Isabella, Leila, Clarence and Harold.
