Ruth M. Westfield

Ruth M. Westfield, age 84, of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, July 2, 2012, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN, with her family by her side.Ruth Medhaug was born on August 20, 1927 in Veblen, SD to Elias and Josephine Nelson Medhaug. She grew up and attended school in Veblen, SD, graduating high school in 1943. Ruth then attended college in Aberdeen, SD, for teaching. On October 20, 1949, she married Wendell Westfield in Veblen, SD. After marriage, they farmed in the Canby, MN, area until they moved to Moorhead where they have resided since. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Wendell Westfield of Moorhead, MN; daughter, Carmen Kenneth Bengtsson of Karlstad, Sweden; sons, Brian Trudy of Summerville, OR, Lee Candyce of Walker, MN and Aaron Barbara of St. Paul, MN; brother, Earl Medhaug of Veblen, SD; sisters, Delores Blair of Roswell, NM, and Agnes Finnesand of Sisseton, SD; nine grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Marvin, Gerhard, Sander and, Obert Medhaug; and two sisters, Jeannette Haaland and Orpha Stenson.
