S. Avis Perkins

December 26, 1907 — January 28, 2007

Avis Perkins was born December 26, 1907 in Hawley Township, Clay County, Minnesota to John and Gladys Mudget Dougherty. She grew up and attended rural school in Hawley Township. Avis was married to James Perkins on June 28, 1929 at Moorhead, Minnesota. Following their marriage they lived in Moorhead for a couple years before returning to the Hawley area. She was employed at Johnson's Department Store for many years. Later they moved to Manitoba Junction near Hawley. James died November 13, 1960. Following his death she moved back in to Hawley and in 1962 she moved to Moorhead. She was employed at the Moorhead Country Club for several years. In September of 2002 she moved to Jeff and Ginger Dauner's Foster Home near Hawley, and in December of 2006 she moved to the Viking Manor Nursing Home in Ulen, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, John Charles; five sisters, Helen, Leah, Zelda, Maida & Hester; and three brothers, Wesley, Noel & Austin. She is survived by one son, Dale Jackie Perkins, Isanti, MN; one daughter, Kathleen Isaac Okke, Glyndon, MN; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
