Sally Anne Horpedahl

Sally Anne (Haugen) Horpedahl, 85, of Dilworth, MN, passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2019, surrounded by her family at Tender Hearts in Dilworth, MN.

Sally was born on January 3, 1934, to Hans and Nettie Haugen in rural LaMoure, ND. She was the next to youngest of seven children. Sally went to school in LaMoure and graduated from there in 1952. Sally then moved to Fargo and worked for Reinhardt Brothers as a secretary. In 1954, she met Harold Horpedahl, fell in love and married him on June 3, 1955. They built a home on the Horpedahl farm northeast of Dilworth.

Together, Sally and Harold raised five kids. Sally kept busy as a stay at home mom and helping Harold on the farm. Sally was involved in Concordia Church activities, homemakers, birthday club, ladies auxiliary, and 4-H. Sally was a talented seamstress and crocheted and knit many beautiful things! Sally loved working outside all summer long and kept a beautiful yard and many beautiful flowers.

In 2002, Sally had two debilitating strokes that completely changed her life. Harold’s health also started to fail so the decision was made to sell the farm and move to Moorhead. With the help of many Home Health angels, family, and friends, Harold took care of Sally there until his death in March of 2018. After Harold’s death, Sally moved to Tender Hearts in Dilworth and she was comfortable and happy there.

Sally is survived by her children, Diane (Leo) Murr, Nancy (Dan) Ruud, Steve Horpedahl, Ron (Jamie) Horpedahl, and Sue (Dean Hanson) Sip; grandchildren, Heath (Alyssa), Brandon, McKaila, Adam (Megan), Amanda, Emily, Andy, Aaron, Skylar, Lisa, Tony, and Joseph; great-granddaughter, Eve Murr; sisters in law, Alice and Ruth; numerous nieces and nephews; and her little companion dog, Maisey.

Sally is preceded in death by her loving husband, Harold; daughter in law, Lorna; parents, Hans and Nettie; sister, Hazel; brothers, Kenneth, Leo, Robert, Ole, and Harvey.

Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. followed by the prayer service at 6:00 P.M., on Friday, October 4, 2019, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at 10:00 A.M. with a visitation one hour prior to the service at Concordia  Lutheran Church in rural Glyndon, MN. Burial will be at Concordia Lutheran Church cemetery following the service.
