Sarah Greene

Sarah Jean Greene of Moorhead, Minnesota, died peacefully Sunday, December 4, 2023 surrounded by her loving family at Sanford Broadway Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota. 

Sarah was born May 27, 1968, in Fort Wayne, Indiana to R. Paul and Bonnie (Nylander) Simonson.  The family moved to Fargo and then to Glyndon, Minnesota where she graduated high school in 1987. Sarah went on to get her bachelor’s degree from Concordia College where she met the love of her life. She married Tom Greene on October 24, 1992. After graduation Sarah worked at Nodak Mutual. She then decided to stay home to raise their three children: Trey, Rachel, and Grace. 

Sarah had a huge heart and gave so much of herself to others. As a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, she chaperoned many youth gatherings and served as the wedding coordinator for a number of years. She helped Tom by working in the office of both of their family-owned businesses; RPS and AMS. She was also involved in the Moorhead Youth Hockey Association, working in the office and volunteering whenever needed.

Sarah loved people! She took a genuine interest in everyone she met. She enjoyed any opportunity to visit and had many friend groups: the Cobber girls, hockey parents, Bunco group, golf ladies, "the Bachelor" girls, and many others. 

Sarah and Tom opened their home to all. They entertained on the holidays, were billet parents for young hockey players, and provided a home away from home for a college student from Africa. Sarah was a caregiver to so many, but mostly to her own amazing, strong children. If asked she would proudly say her greatest accomplishment in life was raising the three of them along with her husband, Tom. 

Sarah was known for her great sense of humor and positive outlook. Even upon her breast cancer diagnosis, her attitude never changed. 

Sarah is survived by her husband, Tom Greene; her children, Trey Greene, Rachel Greene, and Grace Greene; her mother, Bonnie Simonson; her siblings, Mark (Trish) Simonson, John (Marty) Simonson, Tim Simonson, and Mary (Wendell) Prim; her in-laws, Tom and Sue Greene, and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her father, R. Paul Simonson, her brother, Tom Simonson, and sister-in-law Pauline Simonson. 

Visitation will be Sunday, December 10, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M., at Christ the King Lutheran Church, Moorhead.  Funeral service will be Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at the church.
