Sarah M. Anderson

Sarah M. Anderson, 49, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Monday, August 15, 2016, at home under the care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Sarah was born August 23, 1966, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Robert and Jane Highstreet Walser. She grew up and attended school in Yankton, SD. Following high school, she continued at South Dakota State University and later at Southwest State University in Marshall, MN, where she received her degree in Elementary Education.

Sarah married Troy Anderson on August 13, 1988, in Yankton, SD. They lived in Brookings, SD, while earning their degrees. They moved to Howard Lake, MN, in May of 1989. Sarah began her teaching career at Lake Ripley Elementary in Litchfield, MN, where she taught kindergarten for 10 years. Sarah and Troy moved to Hutchinson, MN, in 1991. Sarah and Troy moved to Fergus Falls, MN, in 1999, where Sarah gave birth to Ethan Robert Anderson on October 10, 2000. They moved to Le Sueur, MN, in 2002. Sarah taught 2 years at Park Elementary before giving birth to Anna Jane Anderson on December 23, 2004. Sarah’s family settled in Moorhead, MN, in 2008. Sarah worked in the Moorhead School District through the 2015 school year as a PERA Professional. Sarah was very involved in her children’s education. Sarah loved to travel. One of her favorite places to vacation often was Hawaii. She also vacationed with her parents in Austria, England, France, Germany, Italy and Switzerland, as well as other popular U.S. destinations. Most recently, Sarah enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Sarah is survived by her husband, Troy; children, Ethan Robert 15, Anna Jane 11; parents, Robert and Jane Walser; and brother, Jonathan Dawn Walser and 2 nieces Kaitlyn and Alexa Walser, her Mother-In-Law, Janet Mehlhaff, and Father-In-Law, Robert Anderson. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A gathering of friends and family will be on Saturday, from 10 – 11 a.m., followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11 a.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
