Sarah T. Jones

Sarah Thorine Jones, 42, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away in a fatal car accident Saturday, November 30, 2024. Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. An additional celebration of life will be held in the spring in the Minneapolis area.

Sarah was born December 6, 1981, in Appleton, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Andrea (Moen) Jones and John Jones. Sarah was baptized at Minnesota Valley Lutheran Church in rural Louisburg, MN. She received her education in Moorhead and was a graduate of the Moorhead High School Class of 2000. She achieved a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She spent her career in Human Resources, including 9 years at Creative Care for Reaching Independence (CCRI).

Sarah lived in Moorhead, Eden Prairie, and Minneapolis. She enjoyed children, dogs, art, and whimsy. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, most especially her precious nephews and niece. Sarah was the first to plan a new craft or a trip to the beach, each little one had a constant stream of new clothing and toys from their beloved Auntie. Sarah was always an advocate for the underdog and she brought love and light to everyone she met. 

Sarah is survived by the love of her life Rick Olson, her parents Andrea Jones and John (Ronda) Jones, her grandmother Delores Jones, siblings Rachel Jones and Mark (Kelly) Jones. Uncles Scott Moen and Reegan (Jessica) Moen. Aunt Tekla (Dennis) Bottemiller. Cherished niblings Finn Belknap, Rhys Belknap, Maggie Jones, and the highly anticipated Bernie Jones. Best friend and confidant Lisa Levitt. Sarah is further survived by other relatives and friends.

Sarah was preceded in death by her grandparents, Rolland and Nancy Moen and Donald Jones. Her daughter, Kale Tekla Olson, passed away with Sarah in the same car accident.

Arrangements by Trinity Lutheran in Moorhead, MN. A memorial service at Trinity will be held on January 4th, 2025 at 11:00am. Online guest book available at www.wrightfuneral.com. A celebration of life will be held this Spring in the Minneapolis area to honor Sarah & Kale’s love of nature & sunshine. 

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that a donation be made to the Your Local Food Shelf or Favorite Animal Shelter.
