Scott A. Christianson, Hawley, MN, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021, at his home, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Scott Alton Christianson entered life everlasting, early in the second half, at age 54. He was born in Moorhead, MN and grew up in the Hillsboro/Halstad area. He attended school in Halstad graduating from NCW. He then attended Mayville State University where he received his BS degree in Business Administration.
Scott lived his life through faith, family, friends, football and fishing.
Scott was a devout Christian, baptized and confirmed at Halstad Lutheran Church. Most currently, Scott was a member of Solem Lutheran Church in rural Hawley. Scott was married to Ruth for 28 years. They are the proud parents of their two sons, Jeff (Kylie) and Spencer (Bailey). Scott spent the majority of his working career in the car business, employed at S & T Motors, Nereson’s The Big Lot, and Muscatell-Burns Ford. In 2008, Scott started his own used car dealership called Scott’s Auto Sales. He developed many lasting relationships through auctions and customers. He demonstrated kindness, respect, honesty and integrity with all he met.
Scott played football for the Halstad Pirates, the NCW Panthers, and the Mayville State Comets.He officiated high school football games. He coached his son’s FM Athletics teams. He rarely missed a Nuggets football game when his sons were playing,and was often heard coaching from the stands. Winning or losing, he was also an armchair quarterback for the MN Vikings.
Scott enjoyed sturgeon fishing trips to the Rainy River with his friends, the Sturgeoneers. In 2018 he won “The Sturgeon Cup” championship. The sturgeoneers also took the trip of a lifetime to Oregon to catch a 12 foot long white sturgeon in the Columbia River.
Scott will be missed by his dad, Gene (Penny) Christianson; brothers, Kelly (Sylvia), Ross (Becky), wife, in-laws, sons, daughters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Scott was greeted in heaven by his mom, Judy, grandparents, uncles, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Solem Lutheran Church, Roger Maris Cancer Center, or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Hawley Lutheran Church. This is a Solem Lutheran Church funeral hosted at Hawley Lutheran Church. A live stream of the service will be available starting at 11:00 A.M. on Scott’s page at www.wrightfuneral.com. The visitation will be on Thursday, January 14, from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 at Hawley Lutheran Church.
