Shannan R. Libak

Shannan Rae Hohbein Libak, age 43 of Hawley, MN, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015, in Sanford Medical Center, Fargo, ND. Shannan was born January 9, 1972, in Bismarck, ND, to Russ and Sandra Brunmeier Hohbein. She grew up and attended school in Mandan, ND, before moving to New Salem, ND, where she graduated in 1990. Shannan continued her education at Bismarck State College and later NDSU. She married Merlin Libak in 1999 and together they lived in Rapid City, SD, and Bismarck, ND, before making their home in Hawley in 2006. Shannan was the District Manager for Claire’s for several years and most recently had started as the Specialty Shop Manager at Scheel’s Home and Hardware in Fargo.

Shannan enjoyed spending time outdoors, running, and riding motorcycle with Merlin. She also enjoyed being active in the community and teaching Sunday school. Most of all she loved her time with family and watching her children participate in all their various activities. Shannan valued and treasured family life, often hosting family holiday events. She will be greatly missed.

Shannan is survived by her husband, Merlin; children, Chase, Zach and Maddi; mother, Sandra Davison; siblings; Katie Bob Brunner, Jesse Hope Hohbein, Lacey Scott Hindt; grandmother, Geneis Brunmeier; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Russ Hohbein; and grandparents, Virgil and Alice Hohbein, and Ruben Brunmeier.

A gathering of family and friends will be on Sunday, May 3, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7:00 p.m., in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, May 4, at 4:00 p.m., in Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN.
