Shannon L. Raaen

Shannon L. Raaen, 51, of Lake Park, MN, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.

Shannon Lorraine Holte was born September 10, 1966, in Moorhead, MN, to Ernest and Louise (Gunderson) Holte.  She grew up in Ulen, MN and graduated from Ulen-Hitterdal High School in 1985.  During high school she began working at Viking Manor in Ulen and she continued working there until 1992.  Shannon later began providing home care and cleaning for residents in the Lake Park area and she developed many special relationships with everyone she cared for.  On September 5, 1992, she was united in marriage to Dale Raaen at Lake Park Lutheran Church and they made their home in Lake Park where they would raise their four children: Chelsey, Carissa, Carli and Carter.

Her children were her greatest pride and joy in life, and she loved attending their school activities and sports. With a large extended family as well, Shannon treated all her nieces and nephews as if they were her own.  Loving and compassionate to everyone she met, Shannon had a big heart and she always put everyone else before herself. She treated everyone like they were family.  Family was her priority in life, and she was always there to help when needed on the family farms, whether it be working in the fields, driving truck, or helping out with harvest.  She also loved taking long walks with her beloved dog, Max. Shannon also loved spending time with all her close girlfriends.

Shannon is survived by her husband, Dale, and children, Chelsey, Carissa, Carli and Carter, all of Lake Park; brothers, Rodney (Betty) Holte, Park Rapids, MN, Michael Holte, Glyndon, MN, and Kevin (JoAnn) Holte, Ulen, MN; sisters, Sharon (Robert) Holman, Moorhead, MN, Susan (Danny) Wang, Ulen, Sandy (Steve) Mattson, Lake Park, and Shelly (Brian) Lunde, Lake Park; sister-in-law, Debbie Holte, Glyndon;  mother-in-law, Mary-Ann Raaen, Lake Park;  sisters-in-law,  Shirley (Dave) Bredman, Barnesville, MN, Betty Raaen, Fargo, and Loree (Chuck) Morse, Fort Collins, CO; brother-in-law, Bobby Raaen, Sioux Falls, SD; her special dog, Max, and many other extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gerald; sister, Debbie; sisters-in-law, Peggy Holte and Irene Raaen; nephew, Tyler Wang, and father-in-law, Lawrence Raaen.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 5-7 P.M., with a prayer service at 7 P.M., at Lake Park Lutheran Church. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at 1:00 P.M., in the Lake Park Audubon High School Theatre.
