On Monday January 23, 2023 Shannon Marie Schaefer passed away suddenly at the age of 51 at North Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND.
Shannon was born in Breckenridge, MN on September 21st, 1971 to Grace Smestad and Rodney Jacobson. Shannon grew up attending schools in both Grand Forks and Wahpeton before graduating from NDSCS in Fargo, ND. She spent much of her younger years with her mother, grandmother Kay, her sister Stefanie, and her many friends, eventually meeting Shawn Gebro. Though this relationship wasn’t permanent, they were married for 12 years and together had two children, Adara and Zacharia. Shortly after the children were born, the family moved from Wahpeton to Fargo, ND where Shannon worked many physically demanding jobs. She was most proud of her work both at Crary Industrials, Inc and later at Grant’s Mechanical.
Shannon loved music, she loved to read, write poetry, and always having a good time with family and friends who she valued deeply. Shannon will be remembered for her giving spirit and carefree heart. To Shannon, life was like a party, where everybody is invited. There was never an empty seat at her table. Her pride and joys the most however were always her children.
Shannon spent her later remaining years doing what she loved the best by taking care of others including her longtime companion, Ed Greywind.
Shannon is survived by her children Adara and Zacharia Gebro, both of Fargo, sister Stefanie (Patrick) Birnbaum of Breckenridge, MN, niece Abbigael and nephews Mason and Charles, father Rodney Jacobson, step-father Dave, many aunts and uncles and extended family and many friends.
Family and friends are invited to share in celebrating Shannon’s life from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead, MN. There will be a time for sharing of memories at 2:00.
