Sharon L. Sandland

Sharon L. Sandland, 74, of Moorhead, MN died Tuesday, April 7, 2015 in Eventide on 8th, Moorhead, MN.

Sharon was born on August 23, 1940 to Walter and Mildred Snellman Granlund on the family farm in Delamare, ND. Sharon’s mother passed away very early in her life and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Norman and Emma Sorby, whom she referred to as “Mom and Dad”.

Sharon grew up in Kragnes, MN and attended school in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1959 before going on to attend Interstate Business College. In 1960 she married Gordon Sandland and worked at Patterson Dental while Gordon served in the Army. Upon his return they started a family and she spent her time as a homemaker raising their three children. She also stayed busy as a seamstress and bell collector. She enjoyed her Sewing Club as well as the neighborhood Birthday Club.

Sharon is survived by her husband, two daughters, Lisa Troy Ness, Kindred, ND, and Elizabeth Bruce Sylvander, Dilworth, MN, son, Thomas Sandland, Moorhead, MN, two brothers, Hamilton Granlund, California, Royce Noreen Granlund, Hickson, ND, two sisters, ValRae Taft, Oregon, Norma Sorby, Washington, and four grandchildren, Joshua Murphy, North Carolina, Chelsea Murphy, Michigan, Madison Ness, Mayville, ND and Tyler Sandland, Moorhead, MN.

She was preceded in death by all parents, stepmother, Hazel Granlund, two brothers, Walter Granlund Jr. and Ronnie Granlund, and sister, Marylin Hardy.

A Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday April 11, 2015 at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN, with a public visitation one hour before.

Interment: Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN
