Shirley M. Beckett

Shirley M. Beckett, age 78, of Glyndon, MN, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Eventide Senior Living, Moorhead.

Shirley Mae Grant was born on March 1, 1940, to Lyle and Dorothy (Garske) Grant in Fargo. She was raised and went to school in Fargo. She married Everett “Bud” Beckett on August 26, 1957 and together they moved to Glyndon where they raised their family. Shirley loved being a stay-at-home mom with her children. She began working seasonal jobs at American Crystal Sugar and Ponderosa Golf Course once her children were grown. Shirley and Bud attended card parties with their friends and took family vacations all over the United States.

Shirley enjoyed going camping, fishing, riding snowmobile, playing cards, and trips to the casino. She loved being a grandmother and spending time with her family.

Shirley is survived by her children, Michael (Debbie) Beckett of Barnesville, MN, and Sherry (Jim) Schumann of Rollag, MN; daughter-in-law, Lisa Beckett; son-in-law, Mark Beto; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Don, Dick, Jerry, and Bradley Grant; and sisters, Janet Wittmier and Sharon Sunde.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Bud; sons, Bob and Brent Beckett; daughter, Wendy Beto; granddaughter, Lindsey Beto; step-grandson, Jason Schumann; grandsons-in-law, Jason Moszer and Chris Perron; and sister, Beverly Okke.

Visitation will be Thursday, July 26th, from 4 – 6:30 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley.

Funeral will be Friday, July 27th, at 4 p.m., with a visitation one hour prior, at Glyndon Lutheran Church, Glyndon.

Inurnment will take place at a later date.
