Shirley Overvold

Shirley Overvold, 83, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Eventide on 8th in Moorhead.
Shirley Joan Johnson was born on July 3, 1933 in Erskine, MN. She grew up in Twin Valley, MN, the 5thof seven children. She loved school and was involved in many outside activities, with cheerleading being her passion. She graduated valedictorian of her class.
Shirley married Clifton L. Overvold on August 21, 1955. She loved being a homemaker and mother to her four children. Her hobbies and interests included gardening, cooking, playing bridge with her friends, enjoying life at Pelican Lake, MN and hosting family gatherings.
In 1983, she moved to her beloved Missoula, MT, where she embraced the Big Sky lifestyle. There she developed a passion for nature and the great outdoors, and spent many days hiking, golfing, and cross-country skiing.
Shirley moved back to Fargo in 2007 to be closer to her family and grandchildren. Her joy came from family and friends, who were always the center of her life. Even at her life’s end, she remained positive and cheerful, always seeing the best in things. Shirley will be remembered as a kind, loving, witty and gentle soul who never complained one day of her life. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Carole John Evenson , Julie Overvold, Kathleen Michael McNabb, and Douglas Susie Overvold; her grandchildren, Justin Helgeson , Sarah Evenson, Stephanie Helgeson, Logan Overvold, Nicholas Paulson, and Daniel Paulson; and her brothers, Duane Johnson, Sheldon Johnson, and Dennis Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Heino and Pearl Johnson; her siblings, Marilyn, Beverly and Keith, and Clifton Overvold.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at The Lutheran Church of Christ the King in Moorhead. Friends and family may gather together from noon to 1:00 P.M. at the church.
