Sigrid Sandie, 94, Grand Forks, ND, formerly Moorhead, MN, died on April 14, 2010, in Woodside Village, Grand Forks, ND.Sigrid Martha Matilda Alm was born June 21, 1915, the daughter of Knute and Julia Norman Alm at Cokato, MN. She attended school in Cokato, Minneapolis, and Dassel, MN. She attended Teacher’s Training in Cokato and taught school in the Cokato-Dassel area.She married Harold Forsberg in 1936. They lived at Dassel, Cokato, and Hopkins, MN. She attended a training class by Consolidated Millinery of Chicago at Donaldson’s in Minneapolis in Retail Buying and Management and worked for several stores in the Minneapolis, area. In 1956 she was transferred to Herbst Department Store in Fargo, ND, where she was manager and buyer for the millinery department for 21 years. She married Wyman Sandie in 1964 in Moorhead, MN. After retirement she did volunteer work for the VA Hospital in Fargo, and was active in the VFW, serving in several offices including President of Post 762 Auxiliary Fargo 82 and was District 10 President for a year.She is survived by a sister, Grace Swanson, Dassel, MN; daughter-in-law, Eileen Forsberg, Grand Forks, ND; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wyman; son James Forsberg; daughter Judi and son-in-law John Jungbauer; and a sister, Norma Tierney.
