Stanley A. Sorum

Stanley Sorum, 79, of Hawley, MN, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN. Stanley was born May 11, 1931, to Syvert and Alma Anderson Sorum in Pelican Rapids, MN. Stanley grew up in Hawley, attended school and graduated in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1951 and served until 1954. Stanley then returned to Hawley where he started his career as a heavy duty mechanic with Kost Brothers. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed the outdoors as much as he could. He especially loved his time at the cabin hunting and fishing with family and friends.Stanley is survived by brother, Albin Marian Sorum of Breckenridge, MN; brother-in-law, Gordon Peterson of Hawley, MN; nieces and nephews, Arvid Peterson, Elaine Aaron Trzynka, Gary Peterson, Wayne Peterson, Linda John Newland, Scott Sorum, Mark Sorum; and many great-nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Gladys Peterson, Alice Sorum in infancy; and nephew, Roger Peterson.
