Stanley Dejong

Stanley DeJong, age 78, of Moorhead, MN passed away into his Heavenly resting place on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Sanford Hospice House, Fargo, ND.

Stanley John DeJong was born on January 29, 1942 in Iowa to Frank and Earleene (Rosenboom) DeJong. Stanley joined the National Guard when he was 17 and served for 4 years. He then began working various jobs farming and trucking in southern Minnesota. He met the love of his life, Lorraine Bostic, and they were married on July 14, 1962 in Pipestone, MN and together they had two sons, Troy and Travis. The family then moved to Felton, MN and Stanley began working for William Collins & Sons doing construction, where he worked for 10 years. Stanley then began doing construction for Northern Improvement where he worked for 28 years until his retirement. Stanley may have officially retired, but he continued to work for Oberg Farms doing various jobs and helping our family and friends.

Stanley cherished time spent with family and friends and being at the summer camper on Buffalo Lake. His greatest passion was breeding, raising, and training horses which he did for many years. Stanley was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also on the North Buffalo Lutheran Church Cemetery Board for many years. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and hunting deer, turkey, and wild pig. Stanley was a very outgoing and friendly and he enjoyed getting to know people. He had a kind heart and always went out of his way to help others. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones.

Stanley is survived by his wife of 58 years, Lorraine; sons, Troy (Lori) and Travis (JoNell); grandchildren, Dylan, Nathan, and Bailley; one great-grandson, Chase; brother, Darrel (Mary) DeJong; and sisters, Sharon (Cornelius) Muyskins and Sharlene (Paul) Fischer. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorial are preferred to Sanford Hospice and North Buffalo Lutheran Church, or a charity of your choice.

A public visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service starting at 7:00, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. Masks are required. The prayer service will be live streamed on Stanley’s page at wrightfuneral.com. A private funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18 at North Buffalo Lutheran Church, rural Kragnes. The funeral will be live streamed at 10:00 A.M. on Stanley’s page at wrightfuneral.com. Burial will take place at North Buffalo Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Kragnes.
