Steven J. Mjolsness, 71, of Felton, MN, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at Viking Manor in Ulen, surrounded by family and under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Steven James Mjolsness was born November 25, 1947, to James and Jean (Larson) Mjolsness. He grew up on the family farm in Felton, MN and graduated from Felton High School in 1965. After high school he attended Wahpeton State School of Science and NDSU for a short time while helping out on the family farm. In 1983 he married Kay Kalin and they had 1 daughter, Rachel. Steven and Kay later divorced.
Steven farmed in Felton his entire life and enjoyed sharing many outdoor activities with his family and friends. He loved horses and shared that love with his daughter, Rachel. He enjoyed driving around the countryside, checking on fields, wildlife, friends, and hunting at Bucktail. He loved taking day trips with friends to various places and meals were an important time for him to try new foods and connect with friends. Most of all, he enjoyed being a father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and he will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Jaret) Hewson, Felton, MN; grandchildren, Colton, Bradyn and ChayLee Hewson; sister, Carol (Daniel) Johnson, Glyndon, MN; nephews Chad (Alyssa) Johnson, Kyle (Sally) Johnson; niece, Sheila (Jacob) Murack, and great-nieces and great-nephews Ethan, Preston, Isabella, Logan, Ava, Bailey, Savannah, Dawsen and Annalise.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Brian.
