Steven Robert Heinz

After a courageous ten-year battle with Pancreatic cancer, Steven R. Heinz, 67, passed away on July 16th, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home in West Fargo, ND.

Steve was born on January 27th, 1955, in Mankato, MN, the son of Maylon and Marilyn (Kroehler) Heinz. He grew up and attended elementary and high school in Blooming Prairie, MN, graduating in 1973.

After high school, Steve attended Moorhead State University and graduated with a degree in accounting in 1977. It was at MSU that he met the love of his life, Deanna (Travica). They were married in 1976, settled and raised their two children, Jennifer and Gregory, in Hawley, MN.

Steve’s first full time employment was with NPN Equipment and then Butler Machinery Co. He was employed at Butler Machinery Co. from 1981 until his retirement, serving in various capacities, the most recent being Inventory Control Manager.

Steve enjoyed being outdoors and spent many long hours golfing, fishing and hunting. Most of all he enjoyed being at the lake with family and friends. His favorite pastime was navigating the shoreline of Big Pelican Lake with those he loved in the pontoon on a Sunday afternoon.

Steve is survived by his loving wife, Deanna Heinz; children, Jennifer (Matthew) Vacanti and Gregory (Katie) Heinz; grandchildren, Brooks and Hayden Heinz; mother, Marilyn Heinz; siblings, Nancy (Gary) Noble, Jeff (Joan) Heinz, and Amy (Rod) Baker; brother-in-law, Dan (Anita) Travica; sister-in-law, Janice (Tom) LaPlant; many nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Maylon Heinz.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Hawley Lutheran Church, Hawley, MN. A livestream of the service will be available on Steven’s webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook and video tribute may also be found.
