Susan “Sue” Arneson, age 76, of Moorhead, MN passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at Ecumen Evergreens of Moorhead.
Susan Kay Blinkenberg was born on March 18, 1944 in Fargo, ND to James and Elizabeth (Lentz) Blinkenberg. Sue graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1961 and furthered her education at Minnesota State University of Moorhead where she received her Bachelor of Teaching with an emphasis on elementary education. While at MSUM, Sue was a member of the Psi Kappa Delta sorority. She was also named Miss Wells Fargo in 1962. Sue, along with her partner and close friend Arlene Mickley, started the kindergarten teaching program for schools in Moorhead in the late 1960s. Sue met the love of her life, Jack Arneson, and they were married on June 12, 1964 and together they had one daughter, Beth. Sue worked as a teacher at Edison Elementary School in Moorhead until her retirement in 1999.
Sue enjoyed spending her free time gardening, making wreaths and cards, shopping, and antiquing. She cherished spending time with her family and socializing with friends. Sue loved decorating and celebrating the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
Sue is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jack; daughter, Beth (Jason) Cossette; four grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lois Arneson; brother-in-law, Jim (Pat) Arneson and Danny Albright; niece and nephew, Liz Albright and David (Jodi) Albright; and many extended family and dear friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Nancy Albright.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association, Trinity Lutheran Church-Moorhead, Hospice of the Red River Valley, or Evergreens of Moorhead.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
