Susan Lovas Lake, journeyed to her heavenly home on February 25, 2024, at the age of 71; She was surrounded by her loving family in Manitou Springs, CO.
Born October 12, 1952, in Ada, Minnesota, Susan's spirit of adventure was evident from a young age. Her boundless love for nature and animals filled her days with joy, whether she was tending to her beloved plants or caring for her furry companions. This love of animals and nature made her home in Manitou Springs a heaven on earth, Susan enjoyed walking the canyon with her dogs and cultivating a beautiful landscape at the foot of Pike’s Peak.
Susan graduated from Ada High School in 1971 and attended Golden Valley College where she thrived. As a devoted mother and grandmother, Susan's nurturing spirit touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving a legacy of love and compassion. Sue was very involved in her children’s activities and loved watching all of them compete and perform. Sue was a talented seamstress from the time she was young. She designed and sewed costumes, prom dresses, purses, and anything in between. Susan's unwavering faith in the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life, and she fearlessly shared her love for God with everyone she met. Though she will be deeply missed, Susan's adventurous spirit and profound love will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents Herman & Clarice Lovas and granddaughter Sophia Susan Laurila, her namesake. Sue leaves behind two children, Eric Lake and Elli Laurila; two bonus children Kristi Schmaltz and Amy O’Brien; ten grandchildren and five siblings.
A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Monday, May 20, at 2:00 pm with a visitation one hour before the service in the Christian Life Center (CLC) of Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
