Susan M. Penn

Susan M. Hamlin Penn, 62, of Moorhead, MN, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2015, in Essentia Health, Fargo, ND. Susan was born in Neptune, NJ, on April 29, 1953, the daughter of Ralph Isadore Hamlin and Marion Bircher Hamlin. The family later moved to Minnesota where she met Ray Thorson. They were married in 1971, and made their home in Moorhead where their daughter, Tammy was born in 1974. Susan and Ray later divorced. Over the years, she worked various housekeeping jobs. Susan later met James Rux. They had a son, Travis, born in 1993, and Jim passed away in 1994. Susan always enjoyed babysitting, especially her great-nephew, Lucas. She was a very giving person who always put the needs of others before her own. She also enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles, but most of all loved spending time with her family. She will be dearly missed.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Tammy Robert Paul of Lima, OH; son, Travis Rux of Moorhead, MN; grandson, David Lewis of Moorhead, MN; siblings, Robert Victoria Hamlin of Council Bluffs, IA, Ralph Hamlin Jr. of Thief River Falls, MN, Patricia Steven Cooley of Watertown, SD, Richard Hamlin of Pine River, MN, Priscilla Hodgson of Moorhead, MN, James Hamlin of Phoenix, AZ, Lester Stasia Hamlin of Yukon, OK, Jeanne Brian Wilde of Thief River Falls, MN, and Michael Hamlin of Thief River Falls, MN; dear friends, Joy and Lucinda; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, David Hamlin.
