Sylvia Burtness

Sylvia C, Sather Burtness, 76, Moorhead, MN, died on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the Evergreens, Moorhead, MN, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Sylvia C. Sather was born on Feb 5, 1937, at Ulen, MN, to Carl and Bernice Garden Sather. She grew up and attended school there, graduating from Ulen High School in 1954. She then attended and graduated from Interstate Business College. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone, Silverline Boat Company, and Harvestore in Hawley, along with other local businesses.
Sylvia married Lloyd Burtness in November of 1959 and they had two boys, Larry and Daniel. They were later divorced.
She lived and worked in Montana and later in Tucson, AZ for 15 years until her retirement. She moved to Moorhead in 2003 and lived there until her death.
She is survived by two sons Larry, Deadwood, SD, and Daniel, Cutbank, MT; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; brothers Mick and wife Beatrice Sather, Mobridge, SD, Al and wife Genelle Sather, Vergas, MN; sister Connie Nokken, Moorhead, MN; and brother Ron Sather, Eureka, CA; brother-in-law Arley Klemetson, Lyle, MN; and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by parents Carl & Bernice Sather; brother Carlton Sather and wife LaVerne; sister Marilyn Klemetson; nephew Scott Klemetson; brother-in-law John Nokken.
Memorial Gathering: Friday, June 14, 2013, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Memorial Service: Saturday, June 15, 2013, at 1:30 P.M., in Atonement Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
Interment: Moorhead Memorial Gardens, Moorhead, MN.
