Terry Alyn Amundson

Terry Alyn Amundson, 79, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, in his home after a fourteen yearlong battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.

Terry was born on March 30, 1945, in Fargo, ND, to Edwin and Violet (Krabbenhoft) Amundson. He grew up in Moorhead, MN, where he graduated from Moorhead High School. He began working at The Foundry in Fargo, ND. He was united in marriage to Janet Hanson on May 28, 1965, in Moorhead, MN. A year later, he was drafted into the military, where he served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he returned to Moorhead where he began working for the Moorhead Public Schools in the maintenance department, drove school bus, and worked as a carpenter. In the mid 1970’s, he began working at Eventide Nursing Home in the maintenance department until his retirement in 2004 at the age of 59. After his retirement, he continued to enjoy his work as a carpenter.

Terry was a simple man who loved to fill his time and keep busy, whether by carpentry, fishing, gardening, or spending time at his lake place at South Lida with his family and friends. He was always looking for the best deal he could find or willing to fix something by hand just to save some money. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or a friend.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Janet; children, Scott Amundson and Lori (Steve) Hatlevoll; grandchildren, Tyler (Haley) Amundson and Mitchell Amundson; brother, William (Kathi) Amundson; and many other loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas; and parents, Edwin and Violet.

Terry’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the amazing Dr. Mark Gitau and his staff at Roger Marris Cancer Center for their kind and compassionate care they provided Terry under their care. They would also like to extend their gratitude to the valet staff at the cancer center for their willingness to help.

Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., followed by the memorial service at 11:00 A.M, Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Final resting place will be at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN, at a later date.
