Terry Knauf

Terry Knauf, 70, Moorhead, MN, died on Monday, September 24, 2018, in Sanford Health, Fargo, ND.

Terry Ray Knauf was born on September 4, 1948, in Fargo ND, to Mathias “Matty” and Audrey (Pitsenbarger) Knauf. He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Glyndon, MN, high school in 1966. He then graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead and earned his master’s degree at the University of North Dakota, in Grand Forks, ND.

Terry taught and coached basketball in Detroit Lakes, MN, and then served as the A.D. in Perham, MN. Along with his teaching career, he also ran a business, The Sandwich Hut, in Detroit Lakes, MN, with his mother, Audrey. They sold that, and purchased a men’s clothing store in Wadena, MN. He moved to Cold Spring, MN, when he got the opportunity to purchase the Dairy Queen there and eventually retired from that.

Terry had married Mary Lee Metelak in 1976 and they later divorced. He married Maridee Nesges in 1988, and they later divorced.

Terry is survived by his children, Dominic (Suzanne) Knauf, St. Louis Park, MN, Nicole (David) Christensen, St. Joseph, MN, and Blake (Nicole) Knauf, Otsego, MN; sister Nancy (Roger) Richards, Moorhead, MN; brother Wayne (Diana) Knauf, Alexandria, MN; four grandchildren, Addie, Brooks, and Kettie Knauf, and Brynn Christensen; he is also survived by his special friend and steadfast caregiver, Connie Peterson Budke, Moorhead, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Lawrence.

Memorial Gathering: Sunday, September 30, 2018, from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.

Memorial Service: Monday, October 1, 2018, at 10:30 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Glyndon, MN.
