Thelma J. Hanson

Thelma J. Hanson, 77, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2016, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN. Thelma Jean was born April 15, 1939, in Hawley, MN, to Oscar and Clara Tweeton Norman. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1956. Thelma married Bernard “Ben” Hanson on November 24, 1956. They lived in Hawley for a few years before moving to Moorhead. In 1970, they moved back to Hawley where they raised their five children. Ben died in 1990.

Thelma is survived by her five children, Cheryl Ryan Weum of Lake Park, MN, Lonnie Kristen Hanson of Halstad, MN, Judy Aarsvold of Hawley, MN, Bruce Melanie Hanson of Lake Park, MN, Jami Tom Diederich of Lake Park, MN; 15 grandchildren with one on the way; 17 great-grandchildren with one on the way; siblings, Ethel Bob Cullen of Fargo, ND, James Karen Norman of Glyndon, MN, Clara Johnson of Ocotillo, CA, and Shirley Norman of Fargo, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; her parents; brother, Glen Norman; sisters, Arlene Larson and Jane Norman; and brothers-in-law, Victor Larson and Don Johnson.

Visitation: Thursday, October 13, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with prayer service at 7 P.M., in Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN.

Funeral: Friday, October 14, at 10:00 A.M., in Eksjo Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.

Interment: Hawley Cemetery, Hawley, MN.
