Thelma Ullrich

Thelma Ullrich, 93, of Lake Park, MN, died Monday, January 5, 2015, in Sunnyside Care Center, Lake Park, MN.

Thelma Helene Strand Ullrich was born in Lake Park, MN on September 15, 1921 to Theodore and Mabel Hogenson Strand. She grew up in Lake Park and graduated from Lake Park high school in 1938. She went on to attend Dakota Business College and graduated in 1939.

Thelma worked at 1st National Bank of Hawley from 1940-1943. She married Sidney Ullrich in 1943. Thelma and Sidney farmed on Thelma’s home farm from 1944-1979 before moving into town. She also worked as the Office Secretary of Lake Park Lutheran Church from 1952-1966 and then at State Bank of Lake Park from 1966-1985.

Thelma was very active at Lake Park Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, acted as Financial Secretary and Treasurer for Ladies Aid and also served on the Church Council.

Thelma loved flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed polka music and even traveled around to attend polka festivals. She enjoyed travel in general and wintered in San Juan, Texas for many years.

Thelma is survived by her three children, Dennis Karen Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, James Jan Ullrich, Lake Park, MN, and Connie Wally Bloom, Lake Park, MN. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; Wade Bloom, Kristen Tweeton, Gary Ullrich, Jon Ullrich, Ben Ullrich, Jackie Jones, Kevin Ullrich, Daren Ullrich and Holly Ruggle. Thelma is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Emerald Ristvedt and Merl Erickson.

Visitation: Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. in Wright
Funeral Home, Lake Park, MN.

Funeral: Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in Lake Park Lutheran Church, Lake Park, MN.

Interment: Lake Park Lutheran Church Cemetery.
