Theodore J. ’Ted’ Powers

Theodore James Powers was born in San Francisco, California on August 7, 1944 to Firth and Olga Januaryé Powers. He was blessed to have three great loves in his life, Cheryl DiBene Powers with whom he had a daughter, Gina Marie; Geraldine McGowan Powers whose children Dalia, Michael, Richard and Patrick became like his own children and Carolyn Wood Powers whose daughters Nadine and Teresa again became like his own daughters. As a younger man, Ted owned service stations in both San Francisco and Lake Tahoe where he also worked as a mechanic until realizing a gift and passion for real-estate and teaching. He enjoyed a great deal of success lecturing and writing and was sought after as a financial consultant eventually becoming involved in politics in his local community. He was elected chair of the planning commission in Imperial Beach, Ca where he also ran for City Council. In addition to a number of places within California, during his life Ted called a number of places home including Nevada, Idaho, Arizona. In 2005, Ted moved from San Diego, CA to Fargo, ND to be near his daughter and grandchildren. He will be remembered by his friends and family for his sense of humor, his love of music, his penchant for a good tale and his brilliant mind.Ted was preceded in death by both parents; his sister Kathleen Powers; and Cheryl and Geraldine. He is survived by his brother Wayne Powers of Penn City, Ca, his daughter Gina M. Powers and grandchildren Cheryl Nichole and Patrick Thomas all of Fargo.
