Theresa Dominguez

Theresa Marie Dominguez, 56, of Moorhead, MN, died May 21, 2023, at Sanford Health Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Theresa was born in West Virginia on November 7, 1966.  She was adopted by Joseph and Lilly (Skappel) Smolak and raised in Lancaster, MN.  She graduated from Lancaster High School in 1985 and worked various jobs in the Lancaster area after graduation.  On November 6, 1992 she married Edwin Maruska and they made their home in Moorhead, MN.  Theresa spent most of her life in the Fargo-Moorhead area and had several jobs over the years.   She worked seasonally for the Red River Valley Fair and travelled throughout the United States working for other fair organizations until health issues made work difficult for her.   

Theresa was a creative person and she loved music, beadwork, coloring velvet pictures and doodling.    

She is survived by her children, Nicole Ross, Matthew Ziegler, Kelli Maruska, and Joe Maruska, her half-brother, John Smolak, 6 grandchildren and many other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, her uncle Gary Skappel, her grandmother, Olive Skappel and her husband, Edwin Maruska. 

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.  Friends and family may gather together from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M.  Burial will take place at Springvale Cemetery in Fargo.
