Thomas L. Lee

Thomas L. Lee, 91, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, July 10, 2015, in Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN.
Tom was born on May 9, 1924 to Thomas N. and Gena Lee. He grew up in Baker, MN and was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Barnesville, MN. He graduated from Barnesville High School in 1942 and attended the Institute for Management at Northwestern University School of Business in Evanston, IL in 1965.
Tom and Arlene Erickson were married on June 21, 1947. They enjoyed 68 years together, living in Moorhead and Cormorant Lake and traveling to many interesting places and spending winters at Port Aransas, TX.
Tom worked in the ag business throughout his career. He began at the Moorhead Farmers Elevator Company as a warehouseman, serving in various positions with this company and its succeeding companies until becoming General Manager of Red River Grain Division in 1966. He resigned in 1974 and started Northern Grain Company, Where he was president and part owner until he retired in 1990.
Tom was also very active in the community. He served on the boards of First National Bank in Moorhead now Wells Fargo, St. Ansgar Hospital, United Way, N-Ren Corporation, and the Moorhead Chamber of Commerce. He was past president of Moorhead Rotary Club, Trinity Lutheran Church, and Cormorant Lutheran Church. He also worked with SCORE and, with Arlene, delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Arlene, Moorhead; daughter Barbara Charles Cummins, Tonka Bay, MN; son Richard Carol, Moorhead, MN; sister Shirley Anderson, Pewaukee, WI; four grandsons – his pride and joy—Tim Jessica Simonson, Mike Heather Simonson, Brian Lee, John Lee; and four great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Robert.
The family of Tom Lee would like to thank the staff at Eventide Lutheran Home for the wonderful care that they provided.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Visitation: Tuesday, July 14, 2015, from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead, MN.
Funeral: Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN.
Final Resting Place: The Columbarium at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, MN.
