Timothy D. Monson

Timothy “Tim” Monson, age 67, of Apache Junction, AZ, formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully at his residence.

Timothy Dean Monson was born on June 2, 1953 in Cooperstown, ND to Roger and Laurette (Benoit) Monson. Tim graduated from Red River High School in 1971, went into the Navy in 1973 and served in Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge from the military, Tim married Betty Folden in 1980 and had two daughters, Tasha in ’83 and Kristal in ‘85. Tim attended the Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Detroit Lakes where he received an associate’s degree in Building Service Technology in 1990. Tim began working at the Dakota Clinic doing building services before transitioning to the Fargo VA Hospital where he worked as a custodian for many years until his retirement.

Tim enjoyed being at the lake, woodworking, and tinkering on projects. He was known for being a jokester and someone his family could depend upon. He cherished spending time with his family. Tim was very proud of his 28 years of alcohol recovery and the positive impact it made in his life. He was a member at Lighthouse Church in Fargo.

Tim is survived by his daughters, Kristal Monson and Tasha (Doug) Caswell; brothers, Mike (Beth) Monson, Roger (Barb) Monson, Brian (Luisa) Monson, and Mark Monson; sister, Marsha (David) Wester; special family, Cheryl Keller, Tina (John) Parkson, Melissa Lordemann, Doug (Targn) Lordemann, and Kevin (Dsi) Lordemann; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 4 furry grandchildren, Bear, Lucy, Bandit, and Marley; and his daughter’s mother, Betty Monson. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Laurette Monson.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16 from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M., with a prayer service starting at 6:30, at Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00 A.M., with a visitation one hour before, at Lighthouse Church in Fargo, ND. Tim’s final resting place will be at the Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, following the service.
