Timothy J. Sivertson

Timothy J. Sivertson, 70, of Halstad, MN, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the VA Medical Center, Fargo, ND.  Tim was born July 2, 1953, in Fargo, ND, to Sigurd and Anne (Klevgaard) Sivertson.  He was raised on the family farm between Ulen and Felton, MN.  Tim graduated from Ulen High School in 1971.  He then served in the U.S. Air Force for eight years.  Following his service, Tim ran the Detox Center in Alamogordo, NM.  In 1983, he married Brenda Gahner.  Together they had two children, Marquita and Timothy “TJ”.  He then started working for Kinney’s Shoes, where he worked from 1980 to 1984.  Tim joined the Army National Guard in 1985 and served active duty from 1985 until retiring in 1995.

 In his earlier years Tim enjoyed fishing and travel. More recently he enjoyed buying, selling and appraising coins, often doing so at gun shows. He had immense knowledge of military history and enjoyed sharing with all who would listen. The Sivertson’s loved playing card games together, mostly pinochle.  They tried hard to keep it friendly, but sometimes, not so much! Most of all, he enjoyed time with his family, especially his four grandsons.  He will be remembered most for his generosity.  From spreading his love for the Lord through many a Gaither Vocal Band CD or DVD, to sharing his coin hobby by giving countless coins to family, friends and many children at the gun shows, his spirit of generosity will be deeply missed.  

Tim is survived by his children, Marquita (Benjamin) Pokrzywinski, of East Grand Forks, MN, and Timothy “TJ” Sivertson (Whitney Walsh), of Fordville, ND; four grandsons, Nolan, Lincoln, Winston and Warren; siblings, Sharon (Roger) Wright, Karen (Gordon) Fevig, Stanley (Dianne) Sivertson, Kenneth Sivertson, Elizabeth (Jesse) Lee and Ruth (Ronald) Larson; brother-in-law, Eugene Ozman; sister-in-law, Glennys Sivertson and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Sigurd Sivertson, Lois Ozman and Joanne Erickson.  

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maranatha Free Lutheran Church or Gideons International.  

Visitation: Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 5:00 to 6:30 P.M., with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M., at Maranatha Free Lutheran Church, Glyndon, MN.  Funeral Service: Friday, July 14, 2023, at 11:00 A.M., at the church.  Interment: Felton Cemetery, Felton, MN.
