Tobis Elliot Funk, age 43, died on October 3rd after a long fight with acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
He was an engaged father, a loving (and sarcastic) husband, a committed son, and a model brother. He will be missed every day.
Toby was a genuinely good human.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, and children, Aaron (Brittany), Elliot and Agnes; parents, Cynthia (Staiger) and William Funk and brother, Shamus (Christina). He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Theodore and Agnes Staiger and Adam and Anna Funk.
Toby found his greatest reward in service of others, with his role as a father his source of ultimate fulfillment. Toby lived for his children, who were his greatest pride.
He attended law school at the University of North Dakota. In his role as a lawyer he always strove to provide the most personal and comprehensive services for others. Even in his last days of fighting cancer, he was fraught with remorse at not being able to fully complete the trailing loose ends for his remaining clients.
Toby had an infectious love for the game of soccer. He both played and watched all his life, a love he fostered as a child with his brother and of which they both passed along and enjoyed sharing with their children.
He enjoyed sharing his home and interests with those around him, deftly catering beer offerings to any guest with perfect precision in matching the person to the beer.
If you would like to honor Toby, please join us on Monday, October 11, 2021 for a celebration of life service at Wright Funeral Home in Moorhead.
