Ty J. Jochim, passed away on July 6, 2023, at the age of 25. Ty's legacy will be remembered by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Born on November 6, 1997, in Fargo, ND, Ty was the son of Pam and Gary Jochim. From an early age, it was evident that Ty had a passion for sports. He excelled in both hockey and football throughout his youth, leaving a lasting impression on his teammates and coaches.
Ty attended Davies High School in Fargo and made a name for himself on the football field. His dedication and determination earned him the honor of being named a two-time All-State and two-time All-Conference player. His achievements were a testament to his hard work and love for the game.
After graduating from Davies High School in 2016, Ty pursued higher education at Minnesota State University Moorhead. He graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science. It was during his time at college that he decided to continue his football career at MSUM.
With a heart full of kindness and compassion, Ty embarked on a career as a Wealth Manager, most recently with Heartland Trust Company of Fargo. He dedicated himself to helping others secure their financial futures and was highly respected among colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work and sports, Ty had many interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed staying active and maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercise. He cherished spending quality time with his brothers while engaging in video games. Ty really loved watching movies and shows on TV with his family and telling us what he watched. Ty was also an avid sports enthusiast who closely followed and stayed up-to-date with all sports news, particularly supporting the Dallas Cowboys.
Alongside his passion for sports and fitness, Ty had an immense love for animals. He had a heart full of love and kindness and it really showed around his animals. He started out with our farm cats, our Lab, Bear, and his numerous horses. He thought nothing of taking off on his own on a horse. Later it was his three dogs – Deuce, Stitch, and Shorty – that held a special place in his heart.
Tragically, after a battle with depression, Ty passed away by suicide. It is a painful reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and reaching out for support during difficult times. His family gave him love and support and tried so hard to help him but he just had to go. His untimely departure leaves behind a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Ty's memory will forever be cherished by his parents, Gary and Pam Jochim, and his two brothers, Cody (Brittney) Jochim and Nash Jochim. He also leaves behind two nephews and one niece who will cherish their memories with their uncle. Ty's grandparents, Albert and Darlene Jochim, as well as James and Doris Walter, will forever hold him close to their hearts.
Ty's life will be celebrated through two events: a visitation on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service and time for sharing of memories beginning at 7:00 PM at Sts. Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Fargo, ND; and a Mass on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at 2:00 PM with a visitation one hour before the service at the church. There will be additional time for sharing during the reception following the funeral.
As we remember Ty's life, let us not only mourn his loss but also celebrate the joy he brought into our lives. May his spirit live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his kindness, strength, and unwavering love.
