Valborg C. Krogstad

Valborg Krogstad, age 80, of Perley, MN, died Friday, November 6, 2009, in the Halstad Senior Living Center, Halstad, MN, with her family by her side. Vallie was born on December 6, 1928 to Reverend Thomas and Anna Bergee Anderson in Petersburg, ND. She grew up and attended school in Borup and Hendrum, graduating from Hendrum High School in 1946. On March 12, 1947 she married Colin Krogstad in Perley, MN. Through the years Vallie enjoyed playing the piano and organ as well as singing. She also enjoyed flower gardening, cooking, baking and fishing and spent several hours reading and visiting with her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Kirkebo Lutheran Church in Perley. Vallie sang in the church choir for numerous years and was a past Sunday School Superintendent and Ladies Aide President. She also enjoyed spending time with her family at the lake cabin near Bemidji and in earlier years, wintering in LaFeria, TX. Blessed be the memory of Vallie, she will be missed dearly by those who knew her. She is survived by one son, Doug Krogstad of Perley, MN; three daughters, Barb Jim Newburgh of Perley, MN, Randee Bitker Monte Haiby of Hunter, ND and Charlotte Lloyd Canaday of Moorhead, MN; one sister, Anna Schneider of Moorhead, MN; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Anderson of Moorhead, MN and MaryLou Anderson of Detroit Lakes, MN; eleven grandchildren, Dan, Andy, Chrissy, Katie, Michelle, Sarah, Angie, Kristen, Maggie, Grant and Matt; seven great-grandchildren, Emily, Jeremy, Hannah, Natalie, Jillian, Abi and Jon and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Glenn, Tom and Edgar Anderson; sister, Hedvig Thompsen; son-in-law, Ernest Bitker and granddaughter, Shauna Bitker.
