Valerie L. Nelson

Valerie Lynn Nelson, 58, of Moorhead, MN passed away peacefully at Bethany on 42nd under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley on June 22, 2016.
Valerie Lynn Nelson was born on November 20, 1957 to Hazel Nelson in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Ulen-Hitterdal School in 1976 where she was a cheerleader for wrestling and basketball. She went on to pursue a nursing career but this was cut short following a car accident that left her unable to work on her feet.
Valerie made her home in Moorhead, MN where she raised both of her daughters. She worked for various companies throughout her years but primarily used her excellent talking skills by doing clerical/scheduling work. Valerie was brought to this earth to be a mother. She loved everything that had to do with her children. She also enjoyed spending time outside, cooking and hosting get- togethers with her family and friends, watching sports avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and most recently becoming a grandmother to her beloved grandson. Valerie had a heart of gold and a contagious smile that will live on forever in our hearts.
Valerie is survived by her mother, Hazel Nelson, Moorhead, MN; two children, Tiffany Nelson, Moorhead, MN, and Tara Jason Copley, West Fargo, ND; one grandchild, Braxton Copley, West Fargo, ND; brothers Michael Nelson, West Fargo, ND, Curtis Sherrie Nelson, Sabin, MN, Allen Barb Nelson, Fargo, ND and several nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ronda Nelson.
The family wants to sincerely thank the staff of Hospice of the Red River Valley and Bethany on 42nd for their outstanding care and overflowing kindness.
