Victor A. Horne

Victor A. Horne Jr., of Pelican Rapids, MN passed away February 23, 2009, after a long struggle with health problems. He was born March 23, 1925 at Penn, ND, the son of Victor and Svanau Horne.Vic enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the destroyer USS Healy during the thick of the Pacific war. Following his discharge, he attended NDSU, graduating in 1950 with a degree in agriculture. He was involved in many campus organizations, was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho, and was renowned for his lifelong musical talent.Vic married Meredith Susie Sorley in 1948; following their graduations, they moved to Reynolds, ND where they farmed until 1966. In 1973 they moved to Kansas City, MO, where he managed a facility for Habco, Inc., in partnership with his brother Don.Following his retirement in 1988, they moved to their home on Pelican Lake. Meredith passed away in 1998.He is survived by sons, Joel Maureen, Grand Forks, ND, Dudley Jennifer, Hillsboro, ND; daughter Kristine, Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and brother, Ray, Fargo, ND.
