Vincent Pulicicchio, 82, of Shakopee, formerly of Moorhead, MN, died Monday, January. 18, 2010 at Castle Ridge Care Center in Eden Prairie.He was born in International Falls, MN, April 10, 1927 to Pasquale and Margaret Bernardini Pulicicchio. Vincent graduated from International Falls High School while serving in the United States Navy. Following his separation from the Navy, he attended the Vermilyea Academy of Music in Los Angeles, there he performed with the Glendale Symphony Orchestra. He married classmate June Mathison-Taxearhis August. 27, 1949, in International Falls and they moved to Moorhead. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Moorhead State University, and began a thirty year teaching career in the Orchestras in Moorhead School District. In 1965 he developed the Apollo Strings Group, traveling across the United States, Canada, Europe, and behind the Iron Curtain. This group is in existence still today. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.In 1955 his son, Kurt, was born in Fargo, ND, and the family went to Greeley, CO. He joined the Colorado State band, graduating with a Masters Degree in 1958. In 1963 his daughter, Deirdre "DD" was born. She now lives with her husband, Scott Burnside, and sons, Logan and Austen, in Shakopee. Kurt now lives in Dilworth, MN. Kurt has two sons, Nick who lives in Fargo, and his son, Neil Sara Ecklund who lives in Springfield, IL. Vincent is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Andrea. When Vincent retired from teaching, they moved to a lake home on Middle Cormorant Lake. Health problems followed and they moved to Shakopee the summer of 2004.A Private ceremony was held with the immediate family. Interment will be held at St. Mary's of the Lakes, Pelican Lake, later this spring.Memorials can be sent to the MHS Orchestra Dept 2300 4 Ave S, Moorhead MN, 56560.
