Violet D. Klaudt, 90, of Moorhead, MN, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND, surrounded by her loving family.
Violet was born in Regan, ND, on February 20, 1930 to David and Mary (Stroh) Hochhalter. She moved with her family and lived briefly in Goodrich and Steele, ND, before returning to Regan. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1948. She married Myron H Klaudt in Bismarck on September 5, 1948 and was employed as secretary to the offices of the State Fire Marshal and State Electrical Board in Bismarck.
Upon her husband’s transfer to Jamestown, ND, she was the secretary for the United Way for 13 years. Another transfer took them to Hopkins, MN, in 1974. They returned to Jamestown in 1976 and after her husband’s retirement, moved to Moorhead, MN. Vi was active in Girl Scouts, Cub Scouting, 4-H, her churches-Congregational Church in Jamestown and 1st Congregational Church in Fargo. She was a charter member and Secretary of the Central Dakota Nursing Home volunteers, active with The Arts Association in Jamestown and the FM Friends of the Opera in Fargo and volunteered at Sanford Health.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Douglas) Grenz, Moorhead, MN, Douglas (Margaret), Loveland, CO, and Donna Dodge, Waite Park, MN; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd “Butch” (Pattie) Hochhalter, Victor, MT, and sister, Ardella Gartner, Bismarck, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Melvin, Marvin and Donald and grandson, Dustin Dodge.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the Wounded Warrior Project or Shriners Hospital for Children.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 1st, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. with a visitation one hour prior at First Congregational United Church Of Christ, Jamestown, ND. A livestream of the service will be available here on Vi’s page.
Final resting place will be in Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown, ND.
